It is always nice to get out of Vegas once in a while and one spot I like to go for a day trip or the weekend is up to Mount Charleston, about 45 minutes from Las Vegas.
It is a great place to visit any time of the year. Let's hope the approx 1,000 firefighters up there can contain the fire and our hearts go out to the people that have had to evacuate the mountain.
My most recent trip was about 11 days ago, and this was before the massive fire that is up there now. It was about 115 degrees in Vegas and as went up the mountain the temperature dropped 57 degrees as a bit of rain hit the area up there and really cooled it down for a while.

You can even get a Mai Tai with your lunch and enjoy the view. This was at the Las Vegas ski area on the mountain
